Hi Everyone,
We are at the last stages of our research paper.  All work needs to be completed with revisions by April 15th.  Students will exchange papers for peer review on April 13th.

Please pay attention to citing your information both in the paper (parenthetical) and at the end in the bibliography.

At this point all students should have:

• 2-3 paragraphs about why you have chosen your topic and what you hope to learn (signed by RC!)
• At least 3 articles and/or books that contain relevent information about the resource topic, with information highlighted or on index cards.
• At least 5 interview questions: please conduct interview by Thursday 3/18!

Powerpoint assignment due 3/3

Individual class Powerpoint Presentation:

1. Photo Essay with accompanying text. This should be an introduction to the site and cover the “who, what, where, when, why and how” of the resource.

2. A list of questions that you have generated (from the worksheet)
3. Identify at least one source of information for your questions. Select two quotes that relate or offer insight to at least two of your questions.
Make sure to cite your source in the powerpoint!
Homework:  Post a new journal and comment on someone else's with at least 3 questions.

Your photo essay should introduce us to your resource. Select 5-10 images that will give us an understanding of the purpose of the place and your role there. Choose images for the following questions.
 Who
What
Where
How
When
Why
Post your photos in the order in which you want them on the blog. You will present them in class this week!

Be thoughtful when taking the photos and consider:
• Varied perspectives
• Varied distances
• Angles
• Changes in lighting
• Elements of the place that are not obvious to a stranger
• Variety of sizes and shapes of photos
• Dominant photographs
Post your photos in the order in which you want them on the blog. You will present them in class this week!

First reading assignment: Black Boy by Richard Wright
Due the week we come back from break.

Here are some guiding questions.  Underline parts of the passages that address these questions and notate which question they address. Choose 3 or more:

What made Richard’s job difficult and frustrating for him?
How did Richard’s past experiences affect his perceptions and actions on this job?


Why did Richard lie to Mr. Hoffman?
Why did he quit?
Did Richard make the right decision? In his shoes, what would you have done?
What do you think Richard learned from this experience?
How might what he learned affect how he would act in the future?
